After a year of working on the Wildwood series, I decided to take a closer look at my surroundings. While I continue to work on the paintings of paths, trails and forests, I’ve begun to notice the tangles of fallen branches, leaves and fragments at my feet. I’ve become interested in the variety of line, form, and pattern found in this narrowed scope. The works follow a more abstract course, and a calligraphic, active style. I am enjoying bouncing between the more recognizable landscapes with illusionistic space, and the shallow depth of field and liberty in the paintings of the "small picture."
